Best Places to Meet Other Singles Over 40

Dating Over 40

You’re over 40, single, a mom and somewhere in the middle of those things, you seriously would like to go on a date with someone who doesn’t eat from the kid’s menu. It’s quite obvious that you are comfortable with motherhood and settled into life and what it takes to run things properly, but you have this terrible fear when it comes to dating. The biggest issue? You have no idea where to begin, where do you go if online dating isn’t appealing?

It is important to keep your eyes open because you’ve probably passed several prospects without notice. Another thing, keep an open mind. No one expects you to settle but if you haven’t been in the dating game in a while, you may not even know what your type is anymore. Just as you’ve matured and changed over the years, so has your taste in the type of man that you will find most compatible.

Here are a few places you could possibly meet your next date.

  • Social Groups – it’s important that you can enjoy yourself without a mate before you’re able to give to a relationship. It’s a good idea to consider single men that are a part of the same social groups that interest you. This is one thing that you know you both have in common. This may be a person that you have known for some time but haven’t considered a perspective date because you travel in the same circle. This could be a plus!
  • Little League or Dance – of course you’re not the participant but your kids are likely involved in some extracurricular activities. Just as you are a single mom at these practices and events, there are single dads there also. In no way is this a suggestion that you start dating the coach but consider your options. The benefit is that single dads will often understand the chaos that you call life because they experience similar chaos in their life.
  • The Coffee Shop – this could be a great place to meet other single men in your age group. What’s better than free Wi-Fi and hot cup of java? Someone to share it with is the answer we’re going for here. People from all walks of life frequent neighborhood coffee shops. You may find it quite surprising that there are a couple interesting guys that are sitting in right across the table from you. After a few days, weeks of conversing, a date without coffee may be appealing for you both.
  • meet other singles at the gymThe Gym – well if you’re into fitness, healthy living or preparing for a marathon, why not interact or date someone with those same interests. The gym or the park where you run is a great place to encounter someone with these same interests. It’s often said that opposites attract but sometimes, finding someone much like yourself is a win-win also.

You should remember that just as you’re single, there are many single men out there also. However, if you don’t venture outside your comfort zone, you may be keeping yourself from finding the perfect date.
